The Mets

Recommended Posts

Didnt want to hijack a thread, but wanted to point out that team is impressing me. Their pitching is nuts, didnt think they would outduel kershaw/grienke, but wow.

Forgot how good curtis granderson was. I remember rumors we targetted him several years back, now i really wish we had. Makes me really second guess myself from wanting another power bat, and instead focusing on someone who can get on base and run (to be fair hes got pop too).

I still think the cubs can turn it around, but for now, theyre on fire, and a fun team to watch.

To me, the mets are going to be the successors of the giants and have followed their blueprint. Their 3 aces remind me of a young lincecum, cain and bumgarner. Both teams utilized and concentrated their resources on building up the rotation - the way it should be.

On offense, while they dont boast incredible hitters, they have soild veterans who deliver timely hits.

The blueprint isn't really that hard, GMs and teams have really made this more complicated than it has to be.

The Mets and Cubs show two ways of building up a club, heavy on young pitching, or young sluggers. I think it goes to show that good pitching will always beat good hitting.

We'll see. That term obviously has merit. Then again, you see how the dodgers have done with kershaw/grienke/ryu. And cant forget oakland in the big 3 years.

In all honesty, as much as i like what theyre doing, im not so sure anyone could have realistically predicted cespedes would have the second half he did. And if murphy is his norm, they may not even have passed the dodgers.

But, if you have to choose one, good pitching is probably the better bet.

The Cubs are young and have ran into a team firing on all cylinders. The Mets have an awesome starting rotation and since the trade deadline have an offense capable of scoring runs. Add both those factors to them currently being on a hot streak and you have a world series bound team. It would be beyond remarkable if the cubbies were to come back and win this series. Yeah I know, tell you all something you don't already know.

2 games proves that point?

Anyways, both teams are insanely talented but the Mets roster is a bit more balanced all the way around. Their offense is good as a collective group albeit not on the same level as the Cubs and they obviously have an elite rotation.

The Cubs are awesome and way ahead of schedule. Their biggest issue now is throwing Hendricks/Hammel up against DeGrom and Matz the next 2 games.

Going into the post season, these were the two teams I thought would win it all this year. I will hold to that and go with the winner of this series to win the whole thing. The Mets' have amazing young pitching and the Cubs' have the hitting. Like all of you, I think the Cubs are a pitcher or two away from being where they need to be.

I am rooting hard for the Mets. All of my mom's side is from Queens, NY. Safe to say, they're really excited right now after dwelling in mediocrity.

No but it's the trend and why teams focus so heavily on acquiring pitching. Good pitching beats good hitting, just the way it is

You could actually say they have at least four very solid starters in deGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard, and Matz.

At least two of them have good hair, also.

You could say five if Zach Wheeler comes back from TJ surgery next season. That guy was as good as any of them at this stage of his career. Still young.

I really hope the Mets can beat the douchebag Royals. Though I wouldn't be surprised if KC is losing the series 0-3 and then wins 4 straight games in the 9th inning. I hate that team.

I hate them too
