So why then did they gas some of their own fighters?  Also, sketchy reports from Turkish media don't really hold much credibility with me.

Yet you believe "sketchy reports" from the same people who said Iraq had WMDs?  Interesting.

Also, the recent chemical weapons attack occurred in an area that had Syrian military.

“How is it possible that any country would use chemical weapons, or any weapons of mass destruction, in an area where its own forces are located?”

Yet reports stating that we had found WMDs from OUR media during the Iraq war were credible?

We're going to keep going in circles here.

As for the first question, you do realize that this is Al Qaeda we are talking about?  Al Qaeda sacrifices their own.  I thought that was common knowledge.

Edit: Damnit, Jim.

Lol...at info from US spies.  These are the same spies that said Iraq had WMDs.  I don't trust them at all.

I might as well counter with this as it is just as legit of a source:

Bombing to start as early as Thursday? I really hope this is BS.

"Factors weighing into the timing of any action include a desire to get it done before the president leaves for Russia next week," reports CNN, citing a "senior administration official."

Good to know that the U.S. action has been carefully and thoughtfully planned.

This is part of what really bothers me about this situation.  If this was Bush, Liberals would be crying about it, demanding hard evidence and so on.  Being Obama is President, they are silent.

If illegal war actions are wrong under Bush, they are wrong under Obama.

Perhaps someone has pointed out the hypocrisy of John Kerry promoting military action in that part of the world. I don't see any good guys and see no way for this to turn out well. This is some scary stuff. From almost everyone I know that has been over there, they think it's insane to mess with those people.

John Kerry is the one that threw Vietnam vets under the bus after he gathered up all his bogus medals over there in his 3 month tour. I still remember his rant to congress against war. Now he's wealthy and powerful so it's ok with him.

Iraq is not even remotely similar to Syria.

In what way do you mean exactly? I could already tell you in what ways they will be similar. A money pit and if we get to heavily involved, more of our soldiers will needlessly die or be scarred for life. Both physically and emotionally. Long after the guns have cooled.

I'm not antiwar but it must be a last resort for us, our soldiers, and the innocent caught in the middle of it.
