The Syria situation is really not that bad or complicated.

You see, we don't like Assad. So we arm his enemies even though they may be sketchy themselves. Maybe some of his enemies are ISIS so we could potentially arm them.

But we don't like ISIS either so we take them out as much as possible, which in turn helps out our friend Assad. Or was he the enemy?

Now Russia likes Assad and we seem to be buddy buddy with Russia but we don't (?) like Assad so we bomb some of his allied militia.

Money well spent America.

and?

still makes it a big factor.

Not denying that. Russia has their Gazprom pipe going to Europe along with their airbase in Latakia which makes them heavily involved in Assad's defense. I just find it humorous that our politicians try to sell war under the guise that we are attempting to liberate the Syrian people.

I think you forgot about simple stuff up in Northern Syria, on how we like the Kurds.  And that we like to arm them.  And that Russia and Assad has been relatively peaceful to them, and for the most part, the Kurds haven't confronted Assads forces.  But our allies and NATO member Turkey hates them, and has gone into Syria to attack them.

Not dissimilar from Saddam Hussein.  Whether you love or hate the guy depends on who you’re asking.  These are complex issues.  Syrian Christians for example, really support and like the Assad regime.  Same with Iraqi Christians and Saddam.  Bashars father was a strong man in the mold of Saddam Hussein.  Bashar is less brutal personally.  Obviously, government is extremely brutal.
