There are a lot of posts about this game going into the AL thread, so figured I better get one going for today's game.
This one promises to be a lot more compelling than yesterday's game.

However I am obliged to support the local team in the playoffs.

It's just too bad one of these teams will be eliminated.  One game playoffs is what is deserved when you don't win your division.  But damn, they have the second and third best records in the mlb.

Cubs are carrying 10 pitchers including Lester, anticipating a possible lengthy extra-inning game.

 

I'd like to see both starters go at least nine.

The winner today gets to meet the Cards, who dropped off at the end of the season, but probably have the most complete pitching staff in baseball.

3 teams from the same division fight it out for one spot in the NLCS.

I have no idea who wins this game.

I think the Cubs offense might be a little more lethal than Pit.

Game time temp of 63deg is pretty balmy for October there, so the ball might carry.

In this regard, I'm sorta glad they play in Pit, the wind will be much less of a factor than it might be at Wrigley.

I'm sticking with 7-1 Cubs

I hope the Pirates are wearing their cool 1971 throwback unis that they've worn several times this season.  Best unis in baseball.

Hard to pick against Arrieta with what he's done this 2nd half. ERA UNDER 1? Ridiculous

Looking at Jakes splits from this season, his night numbers are even better.

150/32 K/BB

.170 avg against

Traded Scott Feldman to acquire Arrieta and Pedro Strop. Must be nice to have a smart FO

Twenty straight quality starts. He's 16-1 in those games with a 0.86 ERA. His only loss was the Cole Hamels no-hitter on July 25th.
