Top Ten Reasons Scioscia wants to stay

10. Albert's batting practice is to die for.

9. Waiting for Alex Curry to ask a substantive question.

8. Knows that Aybar will not miss the suicide squeeze this time in a critical playoff situation.

7. Enjoys trolling fans and reporters with asinine postgame comments.

6. Convinced that Cam Bedrosian is a quality major league reliever and wants to prove it.

2. Managing by feel is the ultimate high.

1. Chewing sunflower seeds in the dugout all day while making millions. Who would give that up?

10. Retain Erick Aybar so fans can be reminded how epically stupid the suicide squeeze play was in the 2008 ALDS.

9. Free food and drink in the clubhouse.

8. Make horrible in-game decisions at home which has the team trailing in the late innings so he can see the Rally Monkey on the video board.

7. Impersonate a major league manager.

6. Decide which productive player to trade away in favor of a lesser talented favorite. (See Jeff Mathis)

5. Pretend to be a leader of men like John DuPont.

3. Give befuddled looks to home plate umpires on borderline pitch calls.

2. Get to stare at a piece of paper when things, often, go wrong.

1. Picking his nose and smelling the boogers in the dugout steps.

He likes baseball, and he loves the camaraderie of the clubhouse.  He has had success, and he wants to prove he still knows how to win it all.  He wants all the same things the players and fans want, yet some fans want to keep pissing all over him because they think they know a better way to manage.

I guessing that most of the haters here are looking forward to next season with Scioscia as manager. There won't be a shortage of non-stop hate threads and postings next year. I'm guessing a mixture of new material and the rest cut & paste from previous seasons.

Should be fun as always.

I like most of what Scioscia brings, especially his leadership, and his abilities to actually manage the players.  I don't think he's the best at evaluating talent, but that is what we just hired Eppler to do, that and continue to upgrade the front office organization, especially scouting and development.  Picking apart in game decision making is just a bunch of second guessing. Mike's obviously very experienced, he always on top of the rules, and he uses metrics far more than people on here want to give him credit for.

It's a really tough job to do it for the number of years he has managed.  At some point the stress of it all you would think would be terrible for his health.  But he's a Hall of Famer at this point no doubt, and I appreciate his efforts in getting this franchise off its knees.  During his tenure expectations have risen a great deal, and this franchise is a threat more often than not.  The only other manager that the Angels have had that comes close is Mauch, and he was blessed to have some enormous talent for a few years.  Mike will be done in a few years, I hope he goes out a big winner.  Now would be a good time to bring someone new on the coaching staff that would be a great candidate for replacement, and let him get to know the organization.  And move Disarcina to the front office in some capacity, please.

You have now surpassed stomngt as the #1 Scioscia apologist here. Congratulations!

10.  He won't have to move when he takes the Dodgers job

9.  Collin Cowgill's abs

8.  All other teams would demand he drop the y from every players name.

7.  Reagins makes one hell of a cup of coffee

6.  He's afraid to rip his Jeff Mathis life size fat head when taking off the wall

5.  Red is slimming

4.  His contract allows him to give 500 at bats to a player over the age of 35.  Called the veteran presence clause

3.  He, oddly enough, has a hard time turning the page

2.  Aybar's face

1.  He likes managing a team that has a player who is both older and makes more money than him who he could beat in a footrace.
