Los Angeles Angels 2015 Silver Linings

While I'm still holding out hope that we win out and the Ass-stros and Twins lose two games this weekend, I'd like to end the season on a positive note, with some optimism looking forward to the 2016 season.

I will start:

Trevor Gott & Cam Bedrosian look like back end closers down the stretch.

Pujols while not a .300 hitter anymore, looks like a 40 HR, 100 RBI guy.

C.J. Cron looks like a decent DH

Heaney, Skaggs, Tropeano (possibly Newcomb) in our rotation next season.

Carlos Perez looks like a solid regular at C over a full season.

Do you concur? What else would you add?

Adding on:

Kaleb Cowart has gone from total bust to potential big league option.

Johnny G has apparently recovered from his eye issues

Joyce... will not be our starting left fielder next year?  Tough to really find a positive there...

I am not sold on Bedrock and Pujols isn't even a .250 hitter anymore.  He won't finish with 100 rbi's and I highly doubt he ever gets close to 40 home runs again. Trout will be the first player ever to rank 1st or 2nd in the MVP voting in his first 4 years I believe, so that's an amazing stat.

I can hope and pray and be delusional that Scioscia will opt-out.  I firmly believe that this team will never win another WS(much less make it past the first round) with him at the helm.  I dislike him greatly.  I look forward to a different roster next year and watching Trout play for years to come.

If they can get a nice complementary catcher (hopefully it's Bandy), then I'm not too worried about catcher. Giavotella is good enough at second as long as his vision has been corrected and another utility infielder is brought aboard. Have to figure out the Freese situation, either he can be re-signed, Uribe's an option, I could see Plouffe being available (Santiago for Plouffe anyone?), or a player similar to those three. Left field is still obviously the biggest need. I see the argument of bringing in another starter, but I don't think it'd have to be anyone flashy. Bullpen needs a boost or two. But yeah, I see some silver linings to the season.

Calhoun has continued to improve, and his defense this year was outstanding. Pretty stoked on having this guy in the lineup for the next few years.

Just sign Heyward already!

Just yesterday I was thinking the exact opposite. Kole has definitely taken a step back. HRs and RBIs aren't everything, in fact he has less extra base hits so far than last year in 120+ more ABs. His numbers are down across the board.

In regards to the topic, it's Trout and young pitching that's pretty much it. Also a year closer to 2018.

Got and Cam are pluses for sure.

Pujols will never be worth his contract but it really doesn't matter. He's still a good rbi guy who can hit for power. I'm really not to concerned with his batting average.

Cron is still developing so wait and see.

Heaney better than I thought . The other young pitchers are all under wait and see.

Perez looks solid so far.

Gia has passion which is something I dig. I wouldn't mind seeing another season.

I think Freese will be missed if he signs elsewhere.

I'm looking forward to watching what a healthy CJ brings to the table.

I'm not so sure the trade for Heaney worked out or not ... somewhat debatable. Taking Howie out of the middle of the lineup hurt the team chemistry ... somewhat like when the A's traded Cespedes. It also lessened our chances of signing Howie (everyday player) back at a friendly contract. I think if Heaney continues his success as a front line starter then it favors the Angels.

Mike Morin has been great lately.  I expect a good year in 2016.

Kole Calhoun seems to be imrpvoving defensively, but his offensive production is actually down.  Hopefully, it is just a down year.  He's still a 3 WAR player this year. so can't complain about that.
