Two days ago, this answer was obvious.

 

Now, it also seems obvious, but in the other direction.

 

They no longer have any control over their destiny. They have to hope that Arizona and KC still have incentive to win. KC does if they want home field. Arizona? Not so sure.

Probably over but still not completely over. Will need a lot of luck the rest of the way. Gotta win the final 3 games in which Weaver and Santiago will be pitching in 2 of them and then gotta hope Houston at least loses one game to a crappy Dbacks team

Theoretically no but practically yes. We have to win two out of three at a minimum and running out Weaver and Blantiago means I have zero faith we'll do that. But even if we do, we probably still don't make it.

The loss in the Zito game is going to be the one that haunts us for a long time, the one we look back at and go 'what if'.

Our chances hinge on Weaver's performance tomorrow night.  He's not facing a very good pitcher, but terrible on the road. 

 

Saturday is definitely winnable.  Santiago has pitched much better in day games this year with a 1.48 ERA against Texas, including a 0.64 ERA in Arlington. 

Sunday is probably a loss.  Tropeano has limited experience and poor numbers against the Rangers.  And he's facing Cole Hamels. 

 

I think it's season over unless the Astros get swept.
