The most important game off the year

Recommended Posts

We've had a few of these already, but this one tonight takes it. If the Angels win, it means the division is within their grasp, they'd be tied with Houston for the second wild card spot and would be in control of their playoff future.

If they lose, it means the Angels cannot win the division, and they'll be a full game behind Houston for the wild card with three games remaining. This would mean the Angels' playoff hopes would rest solely on Houston losing.

In a way, it may even be the biggest game of the offseason. There could be sentiment to change a lot of things if the Angels don't make the playoffs. If they win tonight, they're in a good position to go to the playoffs and their new GM may perhaps be under less pressure to tear down and build something new.

Scotty the game is obviously important but the new GM isn't tearing down a thing.

I don't think winning or losing makes much difference to the off season.  It makes lots of difference in this season's performance.  The changes you outlined Scotty are likely to happen, but I wouldn't see us doing a rebuild or anything close to it.  Those kind of changes are kind of standard fare.

You can rebuild a house while using the same foundation, as long as you add to it.  Trout, Calhoun, Pujols, Cron, Richards and h\Heaney are that foundation.  Now add to it.  Guys like Ellsi and Newcomb are certainly good options in the future.  Hopefully Kubitza is too.  But there needs to be more.

Oh I dunno.  I mean it's conceivable we'll have a new 3B, LF, 2B, UTIF, and a couple RP's.  That's a pretty fair amount of change.

Change was not the word you used. You said tear down which means to strip away. You also said to build new as in nothing is left after the tear down. But whatever.
