I don't know how the people who host call-in shows keep from going to the top of the tallest building with a sniper rifle. The level of ignorance on call-in shows is prodigious.

But did they talk about while they were doing household chores they had an inclination to talk to Terry Smith about the weather?

Part of me wants to believe that many of these callers are just trolling. I know that's probably false, though.

You ought to listen to Phyllis from Alabama when she calls in on Paul Finebaum's show. That level of stupidity can't be faked. She basically believes that Nick Saban walks on water, and that the only teams who can compete with Alabama are in the NFL.

Wow, that lady is completely deranged. She sounds very mentally ill. It's par for the course though as football seems to attract the dumbest of people. But that could be because it's so popular, I don't know.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for bad Angel Talk. If we wanted it better then we should be calling.

I know some people don't like Terry, but I consider the man a saint. He takes the least coherent thoughts of all time, makes a point from it and then responds to it. Must take incredible patience (which I wouldn't have).

I can't say I've ever had the urge to call a radio show, let alone one hosted by Roger Lodge. I don't think the average Angels fan would ever call into that show either. It doesn't accurately represent the fanbase.

 

The only people calling are idiots or trolls.

 

 The same goes for every radio show (with callers) I've ever listened to.

The way she defends the team makes is identical to how some defend their religion...which is really disturbing. 

 

It's definitely abnormal to go to those lengths as a fan, but I'd bet there are a lot more like her in Alabama and other areas without any professional sports teams. It's hard to understand their fervor since most of us here are surrounded by dozens of professional teams–but that team is pretty much all they have in Alabama.  

 

and here I was thinking USC fans were unbearable....

I grew up in SEC country. Phyllis and Bama fans like her abound, including Harvey Updyke, the idiot who poisoned the tree on the Auburn campus and then called a sports talk radio show to brag about it. He named his son Bear and his daughter Crimson (you can't make this stuff up). Their sense of superiority goes back to the days of Bear Bryant. Fans all over the conference find it difficult to root for Alabama as a result.
