Trout Slump Over

I think he can get there, or at least close. The hardest will be SLG, the easiest OBP.

As for MVP, I think that ship has sailed - unless Donaldson tanks and softens his numbers AND Trout goes in a tirade.

The last sentence is true, but the rest is just butt-hurt. You do realize that stats like WAR are equalized for home parks? Also, Donaldson still has a slight edge in fWAR.

Another way to look at it is that their overall performance has been virtually identical, but Donaldson has way more RBI and plays for a division winner. That will give him the edge.

Either way, unless Donaldson goes 0-40 and Trout 20-40 the remainder of the year, the voters aren't stupid for picking Donaldson. He's worthy.

But the MVP voters don't even care for WAR or fWar. They'll base it on RBIs & a team making the playoffs.

Donaldson is not the single driving factor for the Jays making the playoffs without him they probally still get in cause of Bautista & Encarcion.

With the Angels Trout is the only guy on the team who has a OPS above .800 & without him they wouldn't be close to making the playoffs.

Butthurt ? Not even slightly. Donaldson's OPS & OBP is lower.

You're trying to make a ridiculous argument that Donaldson isn't worthy for the MVP and he is - that's either butthurt or superfandom. Donaldson has been Trout's equal this year by the overall best measurement, WAR. Just based on that they are similarly worthy. When you add in Donaldson's huge edge in RBI and the fact he's playing on one of the better teams in the AL, and the voters will probably choose him.

My point isn't that Trout isn't worthy, he is, but that Donaldson is equally worthy and there's no need to be pre-emptively pissed off that Trout probably won't win it. If he was to lose it to, say, Chris Davis, then your Troutrage would be understandable.

Donaldson is definitely worthy...he's had a superior season on a winning team and made the most of his opportunities.  I'd love for Trout to win but Donaldson is definitely deserving if he does.

Keep in mind people were pissed off when Trout didn't win the MVP when Cabrera won the triple crown.
