We need to win at least four of the six at home but it might well take five. If we go to Texas still trailing Houston we are in serious trouble. This homestand is as 'make or break' as it gets.

The flip side is is that we will have six games against teams with nothing to lose, who would like nothing better than to kill our postseason chances. I don't necessarily believe that we have a good shat just because the M's and A's are coming to town. We will still need outside help regardless.

The only team we need outside help against to make the wild card is Minnesota. The Twins are currently ahead of us, and they have a cakewalk schedule through the end of the year, whereas Houston and Oakland beat up on each other and if the Angels continue to win, one or the other would end up behind us.

I think finishing 7-3 in our last 10 gets us in the playoffs, worst case a tie breaker game.

I think Cleveland can nick up Minnesota a couple of times at least anyway, hopefully tonight for a start.

A couple of interesting splits from this year. 

 

The Angels have the best record in one-run games in the AL (30-16), the next closest is Detroit at 26-19.  If we make the playoffs, close games shouldn't be foreign to us.

 

Houston has gone 14-3 against the NL this year so far with three to play against Arizona, Texas is 11-9, and the Angels are tied for the worst record against the NL by an AL team at 8-12.  Just playing .500 against the NL would have us tied for first place.

At least Trout was able to take Greinke deep, which earned him a fully loaded Chevy Silverado.
