David Freese

First off, I must admit, I am not a David Freese fan.  I would much rather have Grilchuk handling the OF, but it is what it is....

 

With that being said, when Freese returned to the club, something changed.

 

While Freese was out our record: 11-26

Since Freese has returned: 7-4 ( I know sample size blah blah blah)

 

Is Freese the quite clubhouse leader ....I don't know, but this club has played much differently over the last 11 or so games.

With me, it's less about Freese and more that I'm not sure either Cowart or Kubitza is going to be an everyday 3bman...Because of that, I'd consider re-signing Freese.... but only to a reasonable deal, no more than 2 years....

He's better than our other options, he just looks a lot sexier when guys like Victorino, Featherston, and Iannetta are anchoring our lineup (to the bottom of the ocean). 

 

A 2 WAR player isn't really going to make much of a day to day difference in win-loss record.

Freese has been hot since coming back, nearly a .900 OPS..    But had he just picked up where he was it would have still been a huge gain.   It's not that Freese is anything special, it's a case of his not being a black hole.

What IP said.   It all depends on how the FO and Scioscia view Cowart at this point, and on how much they can re-sign Freese for.

They can't try to get a draft pick by offering him a QO, because he would assuredly take it.
