I did get a phone call on Sunday finally!! We got to talk for about 10 minutes. He sounded great and said that he is loving it so far. "Red Phase" is done now so I am assuming "White Phase" will be next.

He didn't say anything about the chow line but he did say that he has lost weight. He is excited to have me come out for graduation next month and I am too.

He says that he wants to be an "EOD" (Explosives Ordnance Disposal Specialist) like in the Hurt Locker movie. I'm not sure that I am on board with that......

Lost a good friend on Iraq who was EOD. Its obviously got its dangers. Its safer than some other jobs though.

Yeah, white phase is next. No clue how it all works now ive been out for so long. But i imagine within the next few weeks he should be able to call you once a week or so.

Tell him to make sure he uses his GI Bill...amazing how many people dont

I went to Oklahoma the week before Thanksgiving and got to spend "Family Day" with my son and watched him graduate from Basic Training.

He was definitely a different kid......more of a man now. What a graduation ceremony!! It was impressive. I am a proud Dad right now.

I asked what he wanted to do when we got 8 hours off base. He said he wanted to eat. So we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I had to tell him to slow down. He said he was so used to only having so much time to eat that he thought he needed to hurry.

Here a a few pictures I took.
