Ramos/Alvarez

Can someone please tell me why Alvarez has been the lefty to come out of the pen in big spots and not Ramos?? On the surface Ramos looks like he has had a much better year yet Alvarez is getting the brunt of the work while Ramos has almost been the mop up guy. Am I missing some more in depth stats or wtf is going on? It's been the worst part about Mike's shit bullpen management this season

I've been wondering this, too.  Does it coincide with Dipoto's departure?

As far as innings and appearances per month go, it doesn't seem so.  The difference isn't enormous, but I do think Ramos is better, and I think Alvarez has had more than his fair share of big opportunities lately.   Could be wrong, but it seems that way.  

 

Not really sure what the Angels see in Alvarez.

God couldn't manage this bullpen, there is no consistency in any of the bunch, except for Street.  The rest are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

 

And by the way, I could say about the same for the Dodgers, I think it will kill them in the playoffs.  $308M payroll for naught.

I'm guessing they will try to improve the bullpen this offseason.

The strange thing to me is that we have some relievers down at AAA that are doing quite well. One of them, Christopher O'Grady is a lefty and has been pretty sharp. Pestano is doing well. Herrmann too.

They better not pull any more stunts like the Jeppy for Joyce fiasco.
