For the hell of it this summer, I quit clicking on my notifications for "likes".  It got up to 285 this week.  Now I see its down to 279. 

I think maybe your likes stay on for some period of time, then kind of fall off.

 

Or, people are going back and unliking something of mine that they liked previously.

As someone who helps run things around here, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know where to look to see how many likes I had.

 

I'm even more embarrassed to say that I spent over 10 minutes looking for it.
