I was just scrolling through the MLB.com news and saw a story about CarGo and the second half he has had. At the deadline he just seemed like the most Angels player ever, we need an outfielder. He is overpaid and at the time severely underachieving past his prime superstar. Of course because we didn't pull the trigger on the trade he goes off in the second half at is tied for the NL lead in homers. Just have to laugh at this franchise's luck sometimes, otherwise it would make you cry.

A lot of people here wanted Cargo, myself included.

But you do know he plays in Colorado, where batting stats are as thin as the mile-high air.

Anaheim is the antithesis of Denver, where breaking balls actually break, and long fly balls die at the warning track.

Lefty hitters, unless they are named Moo (roids era) or GA, have seldom had any power hitting success at Angel Stadium thanks to the high RF wall, it's distance, and the marine layer.

CarGo as a Halos player would have likely ended up as tdawg mentioned, lack of power and much lower BA.

The focus of power should be on righty hitters, with the lefties supplying enough OBP and gap hitting.

He would have come over to the Angels and hit .220 with 2 HR during August.

This.

Whats funny is how some of you guys think the Angels can just pick up any player and he will come here and perform. You could blame it on the coaching, the stadium park factors, or anything else you want. But this is a place where players careers come to die. As soon as the Angels acquire a batter, his career is going to be shit

Can anyone name the position players acquired by the Halos since 2009, who at least came reasonably close to matching their prior year production the following season as a Halos player?    Abreu the first season in 2009, Matsui in 2010, and maybe Pujols in 2012, and that's all I can remember.

Ironic, as Abreu and Matsui were lefty hitters, and those usually struggle more in Angel Stadium to hit for power.

Ya know, you left out the first word to that particular lyric which is "Escargot."  I think that's a pretty great word to use in a song and I can't think of any other song which uses escargot.

Leave it to Biggie Smalls.  If there is one thing I'm sure he knew, it was escargot.
