I'm off the Fire Scioscia bandwagon and never bought a ticket for his dismissal. I think the process of finding a new manager should be done in the off season if that's what Arte's decides to do. You can't rush this process if you intend to hire a new manager.

 

I listen to the these guys every morning ... good stuff and they know baseball. I think Arte should hire Cal & Bill as co-managers for the Angels. These guys have great presence and attitude! They also have the ability to bring in a strong coaching staff.

 

This could be Arte's big splash next season. The Ripken brothers take over Anaheim!

 

What do you think? I can't wait for a good flogging from you guys.

I don't think there have ever been "co-managers" before . . . and to my knowledge, Cal is on good terms with the Orioles, so I can't see him joining another organization .. . .  and I've honestly never heard Billy Ripken say anything particularly insightful as a commentator - not sure why we would want any part of him.

The Cubbies tried the rotation manager idea in the early 1960s, and of course that worked really well for them as they languished consistently near the bottom of the NL standings.
