I can't wait to see Scioscia trying to use an iPad Pro live in the dugout on National TV.

Yea because he is an idiot that can't figure out how to work an iPad, despite the fact that as a catcher he learned Spanish so he could communicate with his pitchers. You guys are a hoot with your Scioscia is an idiot narrative.

Excellent article about ipads in the dugout last year:

Teams were given the MLB’s blessing to start using iPads in the dugout during games, however there’s a catch: teams can’t connect iPads to WiFi during games, and all info must be downloaded before the first pitch.

One team already planning to implement iPads into the dugout is the St. Louis Cardinals, whose manager, Mike Matheny, uses up to three iPads in pregame preparation and scouting. The Cardinals have always had stacks of paper will all the information they need, now they’ll be able to pull it up on an iPad screen.

“If they want to see what somebody’s tendencies are in a two-strike count against left-handed pitching, they can come over and open up that file and see it pretty quickly,” Mike Matheny told MLB News. “We’re very open to new technology. We’re just trying to figure out how this can help us because we have so much stuff that we have made our routine. We’re toying with it. I think that over time it will be what information can help us with in-game decisions.”

Its not like these guys do nothing.  Through an auction item my father won we were able to hang out in the dugout before the game and were taken behind the dugout for a bit.  They have a batting cage behind the dugout and when players are close to being up they usually go back there and take some swings.  In there they have video of the current game's pitcher from the current game throwing the ball (or if they haven't thrown in the game yet they have film of recent appearances looping).  They have a room right next to it with several controllable screens that players can use.  These have tons of film of the pitchers from the opposing team.

Also, consider that with football you have 16 games to determine their fate.  Each minute of each game is incredibly important.  Its just not the same as baseball.  I like baseball more in general, but no doubt football is more exciting because it is faster paced and more hangs in the balance of each game.

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPad at an Apple event in early 2010, he identified Major League Baseball as an "awesome" on-stage example of the power his tablet could bring to consumer technology.

Baseball also revolves around perhaps the most difficult single skill in all of sports: Hitting a rapidly-moving round ball squarely with a round bat. The difference between a home run and a popup to short can be a fraction of an inch on the bat.
