Any other options to improve the O on waivers?

Dickey Stephens Park turns would-be HR's in doubles and outs, which accounts for the amount of DB's Sherman has hit and the few HR's he's managed to record.  It does not however, take a hitter that should be hitting .270+ and turn him into a .210 hitter.  No park is THAT pitcher friendly.  There's an issue going on with Sherman and fastballs on the outer half, and it's being exposed in AA.  He hasn't made the adjustment this year, hopefully he can next year.

If the Angels are going to promote any position player from AA, it has to be Chad Hinshaw.  He's looked very promising in extended looks this season.   Has enough pop to keep them honest, he's a smart, fast base runner, hits for average, gets on base and can play very good defense. At minimum, I see a Cowgill type of 4th OF (one with value).  At best, I can see him turning into a Kole Calhoun type.  Not in his game but in the idea that he just keeps playing well enough to not only make it to the majors but also become a very solid starter.

In AA. You think the park affect is so great that he would be hitting .210 in the majors with the same OBP as he has in the minors, even though pitchers have better control in the majors?

Didn't Delino Deshields put up similar numbers in AA last year? he seems to having a good year with Texas.

Same here. I think it'd be a big win for the Angels, actually.

Too bad our financial restraints will likely prevent such a move. Arte seems to be sincere about staying under the luxury tax on principle alone. If we had a system that had quality position prospects in AAA/AA then I'd agree with him. But we don't, and such a stance without a creative GM really seems likely to handcuff the team.

It's difficult the envision Murphy or Cowgill being a solution to the offensive woes out there.

Or you can look at it how it actually is. He didn't believe in the awful practices going on down in Latin America, he had an issue with GMjr for the steroids incident and he took exception to one of his players that fell off the wagon. I would say if anything he is consistent and not wishy washy.

Exactly, the point is if Moreno is so principled, why didn't he keep the Hamilton thing private instead of publically throwing him under the bus? And he also could have kept the GMJ issue more private instead of roiling him in public.

Wishy washy

Emotional, yes, wishy washy, no.

Too bad Arte wasn't sincere enough to stay away from notoriously ****ed up, lying, alcoholic, drug addicts like Hamilton...on principle alone!

If this team is going to be competitive next year, Arte is going to have to eat his F'n "principles" and spend the money on some FA's. It might night be the way he want's to do it, heck,It's not the way I would have preferred to see it done as a fan....but there is no other way. He backed HIMSELF into this corner, and there is only 1 way out.

How the hell are you going to lure a competent GM (another result of an Arte F-UP)...when in the interview he asks how he is supposed to make this trainwreck  competitive without going over the luxury tax?

The important thing is to focus on FAs who were acquired mid-season and thus no loss of the 1st round pick, which at this rate will be in the mid teens. Maybe a position player who projects like Newcomb?

FAs to target: Price, Cueto, and Cespedes

This is a great take.

Greinke will opt out and with him and Price getting most of the attention Cueto might be had at a somewhat reasonable price. Sign Cespedes and maybe CJ cranks it up on a FA year.
