I got some good news today from American Airlines. My flight home from Milan last month was delayed by 3 1/2 hours. I wasn't aware that the EU has a regulation that airlines must offer compensation for delays of over 3 hours that are not weather related. The ticket agent in Malpensa gave me the brochure when we were checking in, so I followed the instructions, and heard back from American Airlines today. They are offering me the choice of the equivalent of 300 Euros per person as a refund, or  four $400 travel vouchers to be used within one year. Going to look at the AA website tonight, and see where they fly before I make up my mind.

I was never aware of this rule

My daughter starts college next month so I'm not sure yet financially how much I can pursue this through travel. May just see what's available within the SoCal area and go from there.

We're at the Mariott Maui Beach Club. Just discovered this afternoon they offer snuba right here on the beach. Too late for a second dive today, plus we leave tomorrow.

I wasted more money taking my kids to dinner at Gordon Ramsey's Steak house at the Paris casino in Vegas. They were big fans of his cooking competition shows, especially the one with kids, so I promised them we could go when we are in Vegas. Well, they held me to it, and proceeded to fill up on bread, and barely touch their dinners. Way too expensive for that, but couldn't take home the leftovers.

ha is that his steak place? never been. a cheaper option is his pub at caesar's we love it. that sucks on the bread - darn kids.

for steak joint: HIGHLY recommend STK. rented out private room last year for my wife's 30th birthday party with bunch of our friends. holy sh*t it was legit. i love that hotel and their restaurants/bars. very loose craps tables too.

Heads up for anyone interested. The offseason travel time is coming up. Best time a year for flights. If anyone was wanting tonsee europe, norwegian 450 flights are back starting next month. Direct from LAX, paris, coppenhagen, london, amsterdam. Cant beat the price

Just got an email from Emirates Air. NYC to Milan for $398 round trip if you book 2 or more seats. Not good on holiday weeks, or Friday, Saturday flights.

Went to Vegas this weekend and the casinos must be hurting for money.  My wife and I just stayed one night at Caesars Palace.  The room was really nice, I believe it was $209 for the night but they charge for everything!  There is a mini Keurig in the room but no coffee was included.  We were allowed to purchase a coffee kit for $13, not sure what was in it but the package was only big enough to hold 2 k-cups. Self parking was $12 a day, and they charged us for 2 days even though we were there for less than 15 hours.  They also charge a $39.99 resort fee per day even if you don't use any of their amenities. Is there a way to do Vegas anymore without paying $100+ in fees and bullsh*t for a 2 night stay?

It may be. My wife and I were trying to go over dates and the school calendar, and nothing works out. I still want to go, but there is no way she would leave the kids that long.

and book with a card that gets you miles on the purchase, boom. just gotta get to nyc though. 

I almost did their deal: two round trip ticket to dubai for $1200 last year.

I know its popular, i just dont see the point? Muslim country, so i imagine no bars. Tall buildings surrounded by desert. Super expensive. Whats the main thing people go for?

My friend took his family there for a weeks vacation on the way to Australia. They loved it. Stayed at the Atlantis, and said it was spectacular. Looking at his pictures made ne want to go

Seems like a rich mans playground. Getting there might be cheap but the hotel costs would quickly make up for it. At least, that's my impression.

Dubai has plenty of clubs and plenty to do that's not insanely expensive. The problem is you get a pretty short window of tolerable outdoor weather and it's super crowded during that time. Throw in a trip up the highway to Abu Dhabi and UAE can be a nice place to visit, although from the US you have a lot of travel involved
