Trout's August

Recommended Posts

By September 1st the Angels should be out of it so he will get plenty of time to rest the wrist if that is the problem. I honestly think his wrist is fine and is just playing crappy baseball (like the whole team). It happens from time to time.

They've been out. And if he's been struggling because they've held off to try to salvage making the playoffs with a weak team, screw them.

And if he's hurt, the Angels are assholes or he's an asshole, especially if he needs surgery after the season, and he could have had it done a month ago.

Don't ruin our best commodity, who will try to tweak his swing or swing less by accommodating a bad wrist.

We were in the lead, albeit slumping, and we're still in contention for the WC. You have to expect our best player, especially a gamer like Trout, to try and play through the pain for us. That doesn't happen unless we're already 10 games back.

That's if he's even injured.

That would be a very angels thing to do

Remember when Trout and Pujols were on pace to hit 50 bombs a piece?

Good times!

Feels like Trout has been sitting at 33 home runs for months.

He has been sitting on first called strike all damn year. He did it again today where he never moved the bat until he had a strike called on him. In fact every at bat against the Tigers this series he has stared at strike 1.

I am not even bothering to go back further because he has only swung at first pitch 17 times in 451 at bats. His 2-2 counts net a whopping .163 average. 0-2 he is hitting .222. If I'm the opposing teams pitching coach I am fining my starters $50 for every non strike they pitch to Trout.

After beginning a count 0-1 this season:

.300 .353 .558 .911

17 HR's

Not saying I wouldn't mind him swinging at a first pitch strike as I think it will cut down on his K's and allow him to pound some mistakes but it isn't a disaster either considering he's been doing it pretty much his entire career and he's on a hall of fame trajectory.  As for his 0-2 and 2-2 counts, I imagine most player's numbers look pretty crappy in those counts.

I feel like Trout should just swing at about 10%-20% of those first pitch strikes just to keep all opposing pitchers honest and aware that he won't just take it.

Beyond that he is so confident in his hitting ability that he'd rather make the pitcher throw a 1st pitch strike. Puts pressure on the pitcher to perform. However just giving them a free pitch lets them groove a fastball so, like I said above, Mike needs to swing a little.

Kole has falling in love with the long ball, but is freaking 2nd in the team to K's...

Nobody can hit.....this whole team needs a slump buster.
