New Tropical Destination for Arena Bowl XXVIII

Recommended Posts

The San Jose Sabrecats will play the Jacksonville Sharks (San Jose vs the Sharks?) in beautiful Stockton, California.

This league is a shell of it's former self, and it's former self was already a joke.

Let's go Kiss!

Las Vegas had a good enough record to make the playoffs (hard to believe, since they were well under .500), but the league folded the team because Vince Neil didn't have enough money to finish the season and the league wasn't going to fund the team through the end of the season plus any playoff games that they would have played in.

This is third Arena League team to fold or leave Las Vegas. To be fair, none of them have done an adequate job of marketing the team or increasing visibility in the community. It didn't help that STH were promised a special Vince Neil jersey, which was never sent. There was a story in the local paper about a sporting goods shop that is owed thousands of dollars that they will probably never see, they have about $13K worth of Outlaws jerseys that weren't delivered to the team because of lack of payment, and now there is no market for them.

Are the LA Kiss still a franchise ?

Yes. That was one of the Outlaws games that was televised.

I can't imagine playing for a football team called the Kiss.

I didn't make it to an Outlaws game. Went to a couple of games while the Gladiators were here.

The promotion for the Outlaws here was zero. We found out on the local sportscasts that we had a team, we saw film on game night on the local news and that was it. The team did nothing to increase their visibility in the community - which guaranteed obscurity in a place with this many entertainment options. The team stiffing local businesses for services and equipment and failing to deliver a promised promotional gift to season ticket holders may have guaranteed that the AFL won't return here.

the kiss made a big deal last year about being a new team and having very well known owners. they were on tv advertising quite a bit and did a good job about getting their message out.

this year i'm not sure i heard or saw a single thing.
