This team's downfall was the trading period.  We did not get what we needed why all the other teams (KC, Toronto, Texas,)  all made additions that is helping.

How much is this failure due to Stoneman?  Not wanting to trade a pitcher?  or Dipoto departing at a critical time?

Who knows.

Victorino and Dejesus has failed miserably.  Add to the LF hole in the lineup is Iannetta tanking for the season and Trout and Pujols slumping.

Getting away from "managing by feel" to start with. At some point you have to pay attention to who does well in what situations and manage accordingly.

News flash ... all managers manage by feel and stats accordingly. If anything, I think Scioscia goes a little overboard with stats in game situations.

I'm not a big Scioscia fans but the guy knows baseball.

only an idiot wouldn't understand that dipoto would be an upgrade for seattle and a bunch of other teams with truly incompetent gm's and ownership groups 100% indifferent to winning.

kids like troll daddy have a limited understanding of baseball.

Some on here have argued that the fact that the DBacks did not select Dipoto to be their permanent GM ahead of Kevin Towers (one of the worst GMs ever) proves that Dipoto will not be able to obtain a job as a GM in the future.

I mentioned that and I stand by it. I also mentioned that Dipoto wasn't our first choice and that I didn't think that he had a big enough resume to get a full-time GM job.

The D-Backs certainly agreed.

You really don't think JD will ever get a GM job again?

The Dbacks agreeing with a decision doesn't mean its a good one. One of the most incompetent organizations in baseball. even more so than the angels

Yet the Angels hired him based on 2 months as an interim GM for an incompetent organization. His resume was all about the way he robbed an incompetent Tony Reagins out of Saunders, Corbin and Skaggs for Dan Haren. That was his signature deal and that's what sold the Angels. Although Andrew Friedman is who they really wanted.
