We have our smartest citizens creating more powerful weapons to kill desert people while developing new high frequency trading machines to screw average investors out of their money. They don't have time for petty tasks like curing cancer or solving water shortages.

1) that a train from LA to SF was actually worth having when flights from LGB to SFO cost almost nothing
