Kinda figured they were just waiting for him to get one last home game in. Deal was probably agreed to a few days ago when it was hot in the media, but Chase wanted to play one last home game. Phillies mgmt made statement as a smokescreen from nosy press or to effectively halt new offers from coming in from other teams.

 

Any notable prospects been held out of the lineup the past few days?

Hitting nearly .500 since his return from the DL.

It's the veteran LH bat with some pop that this team badly needs, and some protection for Trout.

Yeah and Panik is the Giants 2B. I don't see a fit there either. 

 

The Cubs are the ones who could make a push as Addison Russell hasn't been that great and Maddon would love to have a veteran presence on what is a young team.
