Cron made the necessary adjustments in AAA, and now we're seeing the upside he has. Across a full season, he won't keep up this hot streak, but j also don't see any reason why he shouldn't hit .270 with 25 or more home runs. The OBP leaves a lot to be desired, but given where the Angels are offensively as well as the lack of DH worthy prospects on the way, I wouldn't complain about Cron.

I hope he stays hot until the end of the year then we can unload him while he has a higher value. I don't see this side of him lasting a full season.

Since getting called up in late June (over a month and a half now), Cron is now batting .349, wtih a .390 OBP, and 1.023 OPS.  If you expand what he's done in that time frame for a full season, it projects to 38 HRs and 98 RBIs (in just 500 ABs), despite getting limited at bats due to platooning.

 

 

I'm not crazy enough to think that's what kind of player he is at all, but the hate and criticism I see leveled at the guy on a daily basis is not at all consistent with the production we've been receiving from him since getting called back up. He's essentially been the equivalent of adding a "big bat" in that frame. Will he keep it up? Probably not, but he's been a bright spot as of late.

He's 14 for 21 with 5 HR when hitting the first pitch. 2.113 OPS but if he gets down 0-1 it's a .547 OPS with 36 K's and only 1 walk. If they're gonna platoon him it should be against anyone who can throw a first pitch breaking ball for a strike.

I was dead wrong on this guy. Nice to see him producing and it would be nice to see him in the lineup more now too. Especially given our other options.

He's been one of the few bright spots with this team since his recall.  It would be something if he could develop any semblance of plate discipline, he might even become a good player !
