Dipoto -- Red Sox

Lol at mentioning Hamilton.

Unbelievable that Jerry didn't use his crystal ball and forsee Joyce coming here and sharting his pants all year. What an idiot.

Yeah it would be nice to have Kendrick and giavotella can't sniff his jock strap, but on the other hand Heaney has been arguably the best starting pitcher this year.

Everything else is essentially the same.

It's a GM's job to accurately forecast what players will do. JD chose a lot pf players that "sharted" their pants here.

Poor Fans

I once pissed off a whole bunch of people at a game by pointing out that the amount of revenue brought in by everyone in that entire section buying $8 beers etc. was less than what Josh Hamilton makes in one plate apperance for the Rangers.

Boston can, and usually does, turn bad stretches around pretty quickly.

Like the Angels, they have been hurt by some bad contracts, and Dipoto has a proven record of taking a team with too much big money on the books, and keeping them competitive..

Last season's regular season results in Anaheim would be pretty welcome in Boston.

Perfect fit for JD imo, and they (the redsox) seem to know it.

So last season we did well because of Jerry, and he can do it again in Boston.

This year is not Jerry's fault, nice case of selective reasoning.

He was a hell of a lot f'n better than the production we got this year. Or are you going to spin spin it! The loss of Hamilton hurt. We didn't adequately to replace him. You can vent all you want but our LF this year is a black hole.

Sucks that Dipoto sent Hamilton packing after he relapsed, don't it.

F'n Dipoto!

You watched Hamilton "play" last year, man the guy was so awesome.

Haha. Some of you guys just don't get it. It's not about losing Dipoto. It's about what losing Dipoto says about the state of the organization not only now but for the future. It doesn't look good.

I'm not as worried as you about the state of the organization going forward.

Its pretty clear from the locker room meetings that both the coaching staff and players told him in no uncertain terms to GTFO with his crazy newfangled ideas. We know he didn't have ownership support. I am not sure what he was bolting on. Why stay somewhere where your contributions are not welcome at best, or ridiculed?

Did you want him to stay in a closed room for 8 hours a day, collect a paycheck, and throw pencils at the ceiling, like Costanza working on the Penske file?

ive heard a lottle bit from both camps...those who supported dipoto and vice versa...needless to say theres more to it than is publicly known

Theres some criticism of dipoto, sosh and arte thats well deserved, but also a ton that isnt for all 3

Good move for any organization to pick up someone with Dipoto's current knowledge and experience to help a franchise organize themselves for the offseason..  Wish the Angels could have done that when Dipoto left rather than hire an elderly babysitter from down the street.

I think the Angels plan is to promote from within between two equally qualified candidates and decided an interim GM was preferable to making a hasty decision.

The Red Sox choice to make Dipoto an assistant doesn't compare in the slightest way.

I agree, the Angels aren't making any hasty decisions here.  Their moves at the trading deadline were appropriate given that they didn't want to compromise what the permanent GM will inherit.

Most of us don't have a clue what assistants to GM's do in any organization, and I suspect it varies widely by team.  Some are probably specialists, others generalists.  Most permanent GM's will want to bring their loyalists along when they get hired, I expect that to take place here.  Stoneman is pretty astute, he will avoid shaking thing up now knowing that would all change in a few months again when the restructure takes place.

Whoever decision it was this is not the same lineup as lady year.

The lf is still a disaster. The dh against rh pitching is a disaster. And the offensive production from catcher is bad. We could survive that if we got average production from lf and dh.

And getting rid of him was an ownership decision, not dipotos.
