Weird game. The Orioles had some terrible baserunning, almost Angels-esque.

Bullpen did a great job though, and it's great to finally beat a good team for once

I was running late to the game but was it really bad base running or were they just absolute perfect throws? Was it a case where if they hustled they would have been safe? Who expects to be thrown out at second on a ball off the centerfield wall?

Jones being thrown out at second was because he spent a bit of time admiring his "home run" before he started running. Even still it took a fantastic play to get him. The other throw from Calhoun to third was just dead perfect, and it was a situation where you should send the runner every time similar to (though admittedly not as impressive as) Cespedes getting Kendrick at the plate.  

 

It's cool that happened though immediately after the prior inning when Alfredo Griffin went full retard and sent Aybar to second to be thrown out by at least 8 feet in order to, as Gubicza put it "take a risk and do anything you can to get a RISP when offense has been so weak, because you know hits will be hard to come by"
