IGNORED

Victorino, Murphy and De Jesus

Recommended Posts

Agree. I didn't think he was that bad. So, he's short. So was Eckstein.

The team got 3 bums for nothing. Now we know why.

Actually - one with smarts should know that DeJesus was never that good when he was younger as a Royal, Shane was over the hill as a Dodger, and Murphy has mostly been bad.

A joke

You forgot Shane was one of the reasons Boston won in 2013 then went in the tank after that and those two rings he has are the main reason why he's here.

I don't think this gets enough mention. What teams would not have offensive issues against that crew? Let's revisit in 2 weeks and see how things look then.

Those will be the caliber of pitchers they will face if they get to the playoffs. We've seen this franchise struggle to hit in the playoffs the last few times they got in. You have to be able to scratch together at least a few.

They also didn't have their rotation set up for those series and had a CJ Wilson injury tossed in as well. Meanwhile they just happened to run into the top of both opponents' rotos.

Combine that with some luck, bad calls, a couple bad decisions, and some struggles and you get 0-6.

Sounds like excuses

The only thing that is somewhat relevant about offensive playoff performances would be last year. The only position player that has played in multiple playoff series with the Angels is Aybar, so anything before last year is irrelevant. Now I do worry that we don't have the offense to compete in a playoff series. However if they make the playoffs last years offensive struggles will have no bearings on this teams offensive struggles. There's been too much turn over of players. Albert, Trout, Calhoun, Aybar, Freese, Iannetta and Cron remain. Gilispie, Perez, Gia, Victorino, Featherston, DeJesus and Murphy are all new. You'd only figure that Murphy, Victorino, Gia and DeJesus would get significant playing time, but it's a huge percentage of the offense.

Since joining the Angels, De Jesus has had 2 hits in 24 at bats.  Somehow, that is an improvement over Joyce?  And, Mike "Mensa" Scioscia continues to bat him at the lead off position for some unknown reason. Robertson was doing fine.... He could probably match De Jesus's production batting from the left side to appease the grand wizard's lefty/righty world view.

Maybe it has more to do with overall body of work. Every batter has rough stretches. I have no idea what David DeJesus is at this point because I wasn't following him prior to becoming an Angel, but I would assume he's better than a 2-24 player. if he wasn't his batting average would be less than .100 instead of around .250.

"Around .250" is probably pretty close to what he is now.....in his prime at KC, he was a very good player...for now, he's better than Joyce and you hope he's got a good streak left in him....

I don't care what he did before he got here but he looks worse than Joyce since coming here.
