Newcomb's first start at AA

Dude has ace stuff and Nibs command.

I hope he has a smooth delivery, and doesn't get hurt as often as China Doll Nibs!

Let's temper the expectations a bit. His first start in AA, first full year as a pro it will take some time for the command to catch up which is just fine because we have the starting depth to wait on him

The starting depth is beginning to thin out some.  Scratch Wilson, and maybe Weaver, and we don't know how Skaggs will be next year.  Without considering Newcomb, Ellis and Smith, that leaves us with Heaney, Santiago, Richards, Shoemaker, and Tropeano.  I'm not sure you ever have enough pitching.  Think if we would have given up Tropeano and one or two others for bats.  We are going to need free agent bats in the off season, because we can't afford to lose more than a pitcher or two for one.

Newcomb wasn't being challenged in A Ball and stayed a couple months longer than he should have. It's good he's in AA. You learn from your struggles and unless he struggles, he won't be able to refine his game. In order to struggle he needs to be challenged. He's in the right place.

No one said otherwise.
