Charlie Strong is now available

So is Tony Sanchez, after the marvelous job that he did at UNLV. Hard to believe that he didn't duplicate the success that he had at Bishop Gorman.

UNLV is kind of the college opposite of Gorman, where he was handed every possible advantage.

Sources: Clay Helton to be retained at USC - FootballScoop

Clay Helton will be retained as the head coach at USC, sources told FootballScoop on Tuesday evening. A formal announcement is expected on Wednesday.

Helton was largely viewed as a lame duck after he was retained following a 5-7 campaign in 2018, but exceeded expectations in 2019. Playing with a true freshman, backup quarterback in Kedon Slovis under a new offense directed by offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, the Trojans went 8-4, winning five of their last six games, and remained in contention for the Pac-12 championship through the final week of the regular season.

Makes sense, being that Harrell is a Texas guy going back to HS.   He had to impress Texas coach Tom Herman, with how true freshman Slovis performed this season for USC.

This is stupid.  If they keep him, the Coliseum will be empty next season.  So, it's not surprising.
