They can't make decisions based on what other teams in their division do. Astros, after years of being awful, have acquired tons of young assets in their farm and have more to offer right now than the Angels do. They can make a deal like this without it really hurting them for the future. Angels, they are still trying to build things up in their minor leagues and also have tons of money tied up for this yr and next with very little to show for it

I'd take Cespedes. There was a report that the Angels wanted him, but couldn't wait for Detroit to make up their minds whether to sell or buy, so they settled for DeJesus and Murphy.

Edit: Oh and the following day Detroit decided to sell. Smh
