What does the Chromecast do?  I have a television in my garage that's hooked up to a Roku since I have no cable box for that one.  Any advantage to have the Chromecast dealio instead?

But does the fire stick or chromecast allow me to access better services?  And yes, I have a Roku2 which allows me to access Netflix and Amazon Prime primarily.

i'm assuming you don't have the roku streaming stick, but another roku?  if you have the roku streaming stick, then you already know what a chromecast does.

 

chromecast/fire tv stick/roku sticks all have built in RAM and flash memory, so you plug them into an HDMI port, and instead of using a box, you run it through your phone, ipad, or other tablet.

can you still watch regular tv with these? can you ditch your cable service if you get one of these? i really don't know anything about them.

Not really. You can probably stream many of your favorite shows, but it's far away from the live TV, flip the channels, experience.
