Like IP stated these moves gives us flexibility going into next year. We can pick up the options or go after a big bat like Cespedes, Heyward or Upton while still improving our team and chances in 2015.

Can't really complain about any of the moves made over the last week. Bench has been improved as well as the LF situation, for some cash and a few minor leaguers of no consequence. I'm pleased with the way things have gone down.

These are all moves to solidify the bench and replace Matt Joyce. I'd rather have these experienced guys up there than Robertson or Featherston. It's a plus either way. Imagine if Murphy decides to keep hitting .290

my enthusiasm is only tempered by not knowing for sure what's going on with Trout. Tell me he's good to go within the next couple days and I'm as high on this team as I've been all season.

These additions to me seem like moves the Giants would make.  They always seem to pick up solid underrated role players to augment their roster, and end up making deep runs and winning rings.  We'll see how successful this group of acquisitions are.

the Angels basically got two decent part-time big leaguers for nothing of real value. These aren’t the sexiest additions of the week, but they should improve an Angels team that needed these upgrades, and they come at essentially no cost.

 

Take away: Chuck Richter and Dave Cameron think "DeJesus" is sexy.

 

 

 

A platoon of Murphy and Victorino has a chance to be just as good as Zobrist, who cost the Royals a top prospect. I love it

 

That's a bit of a stretch, but I hear you about a low cost decent solution. The Angels basically paid nothing to upgrade LF from terrible to OK, which is a big plus.

By the way Stoneman oversaw the best years in Angels baseball and this is how. He built a very balanced roster and it fitted Scioscia's style perfectly. He could play match ups and platoon up and down the lineup.

It is also how the Angels once had a very strong farm system. All of these moves are fringe minor leaguers that at best were going to be roster filler for DL moves.

No argument there, but Nibs gums up the works.
