Man, they need a legit LFer, but my issue is they'll be shopping one of their starters that isn't Weaver(because he's obviously going nowhere). That may be a mistake on their part because I'm not sure Weav isn't this teams worst starter. In fact, he probably is.

Not sure if the team should trade anybody. They're on a roll, and messing up their rhythm wouldn't be wise.

A stupid, over thinking trade like Cespedes for Lester would be one thing....but I'd still make the right move for a LF'er....we also have 6 legit starters....depth is good but somebody sits unless you make a deal.....

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of getting Bruce...hopefully for a few mid level prospects. Draws walks, should give them a good 10-15 HR in the 2nd half

Yeah someone who hits plenty of doubles and walks hitting 2nd seems best. Markakis fits the bill and may not cost must prospect wise. Or grab him and another spare part to platoon with Cron. Don't need anything major just something to replace Matt friggin' Joyce.

He's an instant upgrade over any other in house option we currently have. Sure, he's very streaky. Who isn't nowadays? 21 million AAV isn't terrible for the market now/in the next 4 years. Especially for what he could bring to the table. Obviously he's a wild card. We could get .850+ OPS Kemp or the Vernon Wellsesqe Kemp.

He's not streaky, he just sucks.  You're not paying that salary for a baseball player, you're paying that for a mediocre DH who is basically the CJ Cron of outfielders.

 

If you really believe that 21 million for 4 years "isn't terrible" for a 31 year old Matt Kemp, I don't even know how to approach a discussion about this.
