All-Star reliever Darren O'Day is still paying tribute to Nick Adenhart

Who the heck did we add to the 40 man roster to keep O'Day off of it after 2008?

In their defense his 2008 year was his worst year in the Majors basically. 7.7% K%-BB%, .278 Average Against, 4.57 ERA which was higher than his peripherals but his peripherals were still poor for a reliever.

Considering that the Angels probably weren't very analytically savvy at that time, I can see why they may not have protected him in the Rule 5.

Personally someone like Dipoto probably would have recognized that hitters aren't able to square up the ball against O'Day and may have kept him despite the poor performance but again it was 2008 not today.

It's just one of those players that moves on and finds success. O'Day is similar to Johan Santana, Jose Bautista, Steave Pearce, et al. We just lost the bet.
