Angels Looking to Trade for Hitting (MLBTR)

Recommended Posts

Who on the farm would be an equitable trade for Revere?

A big part of the problem in Philly is Reuben Amaro's ridiculous demands.....you can't begin to rebuild if you're hanging on to everybody.....if he's calling the shots, very difficult situation.....

Yeah, he seems stubborn. He could have gotten something for Utley during the off-season and now he has zero value.

He missed the boat on Utley....and it doesn't look like holding on to Pablebon has helped him any either....Hamels, we'll see.....

http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=of&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0

Revere's 1.6 puts him in a tie for 27th among all MLB outfielders.   Most of his value appears to be with the glove, however, and that side of the stat doesn't always agree with the eyeball test (I could be convinced that Revere is a little bit better with the glove than Trout - that's possible.  I cannot be convinced that Trout is a even a slight net negative in center field, but the stat says he's worth -0.1 there.)

Revere does, however, lead the Phillies in WAR.  And his 1.6 is nearly a 3 full win upgrade over Matt Joyce (-1.3).  So... yeah.

Leading the Phillies in WAR is damning with faint praise.

Given that our obvious weakness is at the plate, the fact that Revere's value is mainly tied to his glove is relatively meaningless.

Adam Lind makes so much sense. He wouldn't cost nearly as much as Brantley, for one. The problem is that the Brewers have no need for CJ, so it would require prospects. How about Tropeano, Bedrosian, and Yarbrough?

You'd want to trade THAT MUCH for Adam Lind? Yikes. If think the Brewers would be lucky to even get Tropeano for him, let alone the others.

He makes so much sense in this lineup, you're definitely right about that. But with the inability to hit lefties or play the field, Lind turns into a 30-something platoon DH making 7.5 million a year. He isn't negatively valued because of the way he punishes RHP but he certainly isn't worth trading 3 well regarded prospects for.

I was thinking more along the lines of Jeremy Rhoades and Jonah Wesely for Lind. Both have decent upside, Rhoades looks like he has a shot at staying in the rotation. That's a pretty fair deal.

Tropeano though, his ERA is inflated in SLC, is back healthy and showed in his major league start that he can be very good at the top level. I think he's going to be a good #3 starter in the majors and would value him as such right now.

Brandon Phillips would be a good possibility.

Parra and/or C. Gomez from the Brewers wouldnt be good, although, not sure Angels have the prospects to land Gomez.

Brandon Phillips would be horrible.

Also, they absolutely have the prospects to get Gomez, but giving them up for a player like him would be a mistake.
