I just don't see why we should be excited about this trade.

We traded a bat with good minor league numbers for a 25 year old reliever with crappy minor league numbers.

Krauss had very little chance of getting another shot w/ Angels....he would be behind Navarro and Cron....no brainer to me to get an arm that has a shot of giving us bullpen depth....neither guy likely to be much of a factor....

I wouldn't call his minor league stats 'crappy' -- some of the ratio's OK - ERA a bit high.

yeah, Cardinals wouldn't make this deal because they hacked into the Rays' scouting notes and know the doubts that some of the Rays' scouts have about this guy's durability........

Anything with upside in exchange for Krauss is a steal.  I'd've taken a pocket of lint for him.

We picked up Krauss for nothing.  We traded him for a power arm to replace Bedrock and Gott in our minor league system.  We essentially got something for a guy who was our third string AAA first baseman/pinch hitter. 

 

A great move.

yep. i have to admit that i'm surprised too. i really thought he'd do well in mlb. hold down a solid spot in the middle innings and then move into the late setup/closer roles. so far, i was way off.
