1.  There is no other "Pujols" type available at this time.

2.  It's not worth the move to lead off just so he can steal more bases, plus he strikes out too much.

There is a higher WAR value in hitting home runs than stealing bases. He tried winning an MVP with his feet, found it was easier hitting the long ball. One home run is probably worth 4 stolen bases in BBWA stats so he was working way too hard his rookie and 2nd season.

 

What I am saying is Trout is lazy.
