I think he may have been hinting at the 100% penalty the Angels would have had to pay.

Kia or BMW, it didn't matter -- the Angels were going to pay double.

Baldoquin has looked fine since returning from DL. Baby steps, he's in a whole new world right now and needs to get acclimated. Not an easy thing to do.

Honestly I have no idea about Baldoquin.  The Angels spent so much when there were better Cuban imports out there for less money.  I'm wondering what he was able to do to impress them.  It seems like his upside would be that of Kendrick.  His floor as we're seeing right now is a total bust.  Was 15 million a worthwhile gamble when the only way you can do anything more than break even is if he hits his ceiling?

 

He looks like he should probably repeat Inland Empire next year as a 22 year old, which is pretty average age for the league.  Hopefully he'll be better adjusted by then.

Now if your scenario was you can overpay for a Kia now or never buy a car for the next twenty years you would certainly think about overpaying.
