No managers will ever get over the lefty lefty thing, or righty righty, they have too many stat books full of logic otherwise.  Then there is the rookie vs. vet thing, same result.  Stats have ruined baseball, it was more fun when you went on hunches.  If you do that now electric current flows through a million keyboards.

So they've run into what about 25 outs this season. If the team has about a .250 average then maybe we score 6 more runs in the season, which is hardly drastically. Also how many of those outs are a guy going to second to draw the throw away from home to guarantee a run being scored.

 

Trout did a pretty bad job of that.

It's worse than that, get used to it.  There will always be a "Fire ______________ (insert manager's name)" as long as there is baseball.  It's the easiest thing to emotionally say following a losing game, and takes no intelligence.

Trout did a pretty bad job of that.

I'm talking the basehit to left and the throw is going to home the guy who singles keeps going to second, the cut off guy cuts it off and goes to second for the easy out. That has happened a handful of times this year. The Trout play was dumb on two levels, one Aybar not running and Trout doing this in the first place.

Sure seems like it.

Take away dumb outs, and you stop taking at bats away from the players. Thats what I think hurts the most, less outs on the basepaths means more opportunities for the offense as a whole.

This team would not be in 1st place with it's current roster so no, another manager wouldn't have this team magically playing much better. They just don't have a lot of impact talent tbh. They overachieved a bit last year and got some surprising production from guys.
