This team would be in first with any other manager...

Im now convinced that the teams play so far this season is not to the fault of Dipoto.  Ive never seen a team run into as many outs as the Angels do, and ive never seen a manager with a worse gameplan than Mike Scioscia.

Knowing this team has absolutely 0 team speed aside from Trout who refuses to use his speed, why do we keep going with this dumb mentality that you can run whenever you want and disregard making smart baseball decisions?  This isnt the fault of the players.  When this has been going on for several years, you have to look at the person who has been here for the duration of that.  This is on Mike Scioscia not holding players accountable, and despite the fact that it keeps happening he keeps encouraging players to run at all costs and keep getting thrown out easily.

Put any other manager on this team, this team is in 1st.  We have the talent to be in 1st.  With a little more offensive production, we probably would be.  The problem is when you have a team like the Angels who are very streaky and dont have as much offensive firepower as some teams, you absolutely cannot afford to give away outs EVERY game.  You could point to a number of losses this year and pin the blame on Scioscia and his idiotic gameplan.  This is a station to station team that gives away outs, thats inexcusable.

Yes we could use Tommy Lasorda or Joe Torre.

Beyond Trout, Pujols, Smith and Street, this team has very, very little true talent.

You could throw Richards and possibly Weaver still in there as well.

The scary thing is it doesn't look there is any talent besides a few pitchers in the farm either. I really hope Arte is willing to spend more or this team offensively could be pretty poor for a few season, especially when we're pissing away 1st round draft picks on catchers that can't hit.

We have like 3 or 4 players on the roster that are under .200. I disagree that they would be much better. Also Trout is not a very good base stealer and seems to get thrown out too many times

I don't blame Sosh.  He is a solid manager.  Yes, he's made bad decisions here and there, but every damn manager does that. Period.

This team needs someone in LF and DH who can hit.  It will change everything.  For example, you get a guy like Either, he now protects Pujols and you could put Calhoun back to lead-off where he does much better.  Hopefully they then get a DH who can protect Either.  It changes the entire dynamic of the line-up.

Agreed.

A different coach would make Joyce and Ianetta hit, plus Niewenhaus would still have a job because another coach would have made him better.

You completely missed the point.  This teams offensive numbers would not look as bad as it does if the manager wasnt telling these guys to run like idiots on the bases.  The averages might not be much different but the amount of runs scored would be higher.  Theres been several games this season lost due to Scioscia's baserunning "philosophy."  If you cant realize that then well, you're an idiot, no offense.

I'll take it. As shitty as the coaching and playing has been. We're 4 to 5 games back in June. Fire and trade everyone.

The division is so bad. Tex Seattle houston or LA can back into the post season

And then immediately back out of the playoffs. Yay!

I'm not so sure that stupid base running is Scioscia's call. I think the Angels just have dumb players

No, no I didn't.

You stated we would be in first and apparently it has to do with baserunning which would lead to the necessary runs.
