Dude is just an amazing human being. This is what being a pro athlete is all about. It's a relatively small gesture in the overall scheme of things but he made one fan incredibly happy and gave him a ton of hope going into his surgery.

It's actually a really easy thing to do.  Have a bat and gloves sent to a kid.  Not a huge thing.

 

You or I could never have such an impact on a child like that.  All Trout has to do is ask the PR department to mail a few items.

It's not just the act of mailing him and bat and gloves by itself and calling it a day.

 

It's the fact that he takes the time from his schedule (which i'm sure is insane busy) to converse with this kid, follow him, and know him well enough to know that he's about to go into surgery and give him some gifts and a good gesture.
