A Rod 3000 hits Countdown Thread

Rodriguez is also having one of the greatest offensive seasons ever recorded by a hitter older than 38. Consider his OPS+, which takes the sum of a hitter’s on-base and slugging percentages, adjusts it for different ballpark factors and puts it on a scale relative to the league average. Entering Wednesday’s game, Rodriguez had an OPS+ of 147, according to baseball-reference.com, meaning he has been 47% better than the average hitter.

Since 1901, only three other players have finished their age-39 seasons with a higher OPS+: Babe Ruth in 1934, Ted Williams in 1958 and Barry Bonds in 2004.
