Favorite Military Movies

Heartbreak Ridge is another good movie. Here's one of my favorite quotes from Clint Eastwood. As far as eastwood war flicks, i love kellys heroes. Not at all a movie thats supposed to be serious, but almost like a tarantino film.

gallipoli is heart-wrenching because it's so well done. one my faves.

 

also partial to an oldie, In Harm's Way, with john wayne and kirk douglas. good story all the way around.

 

agree with blarg, if midway is on i'm watching it.

one of spielberg's early films. a comedy that was entertaining.

Shenandoah, a civil war film with jimmy stewart. watch it with my 8th graders every year.

 

robin hood, the one with errol flynn. it's very cheesy in parts, but it's a good story.

 

Spartacus. holds up very well (the kirk douglas one).

The Great Escape is another good movie. Steve McQueen died way too young.

it's a very dark movie, not the kind you walk away from going "hey that was great!" it's well done, but it's very dark. i saw it once and that was more than enough for me.

Its a movie that definitely makes you think and shows you a view on the Vietnam war and life in general that few movies ever have

The theatrical release plays like a 4 hour movie. The redux plays like a 4 day movie

In my opinion its one of Brando's worst movies.

Liked valkyrie with tom cruise a lot. I think more people would have dug ut if it didnt come out after cruise went crazy.

Hamburger hill is great from a grunts perspective, very underrated. Casualties of war is another great underrated vietnam flick

Yeah, I also liked Valkyrie and I can't stand Cruise.

was gonna mention this as a joke, inactually watched that on sundwy night. Hadnt seen it in years. Love the ending scene with the guy shooting that anti aircraft gun at the sub and killing his house in the process.

Not the Redux

yeah, never reall6 got redux. Didnt really add anything to the movie. It was already way long enough.

Its a great movie though. Love the Cav scene, thats like gospel to all Cavalry men.

Kind of an unheard of movie, but theres a good one with ethan hawke and gary sinese called a midnight clear. Good story and acting.

Courage under fire was good too. Ive read matt daMon still has like an irregular heartbeat because of his weight loss for that movie.
