Does Anyone Really Care....

Recommended Posts

About Albert Pujol's batting records? Whether he hits x amount of this or that, or who he passes on the all-time list? The Angels' front office makes such a big deal about it. His glory days were with the Cards. I'm sure it's all about marketing, but it hardly compensates for how badly the team is playing. In my opinion: who cares?

in this case, no i don't care. as you said, almost all of his work was done with the cards. he'll go into the HOF as a cardinal, as he should. the angels are paying him for what he did with another team. luckily, we're getting something out of him, but we're not seeing 240 million dollars worth. i think few angel fans have really embraced him as a face of the franchise. i think most view him as a cardinal who's on the angels.

Do we give a shit when Trout is compared with Mantle?

I was actually excited to hear about the comparison of Trout and Mantle. Has anyone seen how Mantle performed when he turned 24? .353 / 52hrs / 130rbi's / 1.169pos. Yep I can't wait for Trout to turn 24 next season.

one thing about mantle, and mays and all the greats frm that era (and im not knocking them) is i wonder how much thinner the talent pool was back then. Not just because of segregation, not international drafting etc, but because of the war.

Those numbers are ridiculous and anyone that has those numbers in today's game would be about a 15 WAR player, which we know won't happen. Trout had 70% of those numbers and was a 10 WAR and that year Mantle was an 11 WAR player. Now I will readily admit that dwar is a joke when no one actually saw all of those games or has access to all of those games on tape.

Trout could do this if he starts drinking and smoking like Mantle. :)
