I knew about Canada, that's fairly common knowledge though not what they mentioned, during Polk's presidency. Technically we already invaded Mexico during the Mexican/American war.

 

What we need to do is invade Florida.

Do we really want Florida?  As part of taking Cuba off the Terrorist list, I'd require them to take Florida.

The Azores one I have heard before but didn't know it got that far along. In the end, Portugal's dictator chose correctly when he allowed the Brits and later the Americans to build air bases out there. Now the American air base has a skeleton crew because Americans don't need to refuel too often over the Atlantic. But that base won't be given up because the Chinese want it, their premier made a pit stop a couple of years ago to check it out, that did not go over too well with the locals. They like to complain about the Americans but that tune would change real quick if China set up shop.
