So, HR Derby didn't screw up his swing?

If Pujols keeps this up, this is an unprecedented situation. Never before have two players gone into the all star break tied for the league lead in home runs, with one accepting an invitation to the HR Derby and the other declining, only for the player who *participated* in the derby to continue to hit HR's at a faster rate.

As a rule HR Derby participation results in precipitous drops in hitting performance. However, it often takes a couple of weeks for the effect to set in, like what happened to Mark Trumbo a few years back, so we're not out of the woods quite yet.

I'm legitimately curious to see where one would find this information.

It is filed with the same dossier on Howie Kendrick always choking, Weaver leaving for free agency and Trout never signing an extension. It's all there sheeple!

Isn't each team limited to one participant?

Pujols and Trout are BOTH on pace to surpass Glaus' 47 HRs in 2000.   Crazy thing is, that was a much more power-hitting oriented time.

They have a very good chance to become the first Halos' duo to each hit at least 40 HRs in a season.

When was the previous season that two players on the same MLB team hit at least 40 HRs?

If so then someone forgot to tell Rizzo and Bryant.

Oops, forgot about Rizzo.    Rizzo has actually gone a bit into the background, with all of the talk about Bryant.

Speaking of the Cubbies, they are still in the 2nd NL WC spot.   Imagine how amped their fans would get if they return to the post-season after a long absence.

To catch Bonds, Albert would have to average 33 home runs for the next six years, assuming he finishes with 45 this year.

His season average up to now has been 40 HR.

Very doubtful but doable, especially if he can get 40+ for the next few seasons
