Percival joining as coach?

I know it is a bit homer-ist to keep wanting players from 2002 to become coaches and the Manager of the Angels when things aren't going great, but I think there is a reason. That team wasn't the most talented and wasn't expected to even get to the post season, but they had heart, passion and drive to win. All things that this current team seems to lack.

I don't think everybody from the 2002 team would make good managers.  Salmon and Anderson seem too passive/diplomatic to be good managers, maybe good hitting coaches.  Erstad and Percivil seem like future major league managers to me though, or at the very least coaches.

Man, I love this idea. Get Percy's ass in here now! No MILB experience needed, he's been coaching HS for a while. I know that's apples n oranges in the terms of levels of play, but he no doubt has his head already wrapped around the instruction aspect. Add that to his 14 years dealing with big leaguers, I say he can hit the ground running (and squinting).

I spoke with Percy a little bit at Fanfest, (The day we got into the stadium early for the Tim Mead talk) and asked him about his plans to coach in the majors in the future. He said he was definitely interested in coaching in the bigs someday, but emphasized his love for working with the kids right now. I would love to see him as at least the BP coach, or even to start in the minors. He also said he was helping out at UCR.

What if the Angels started signing kids?
