Weather tonight

Recommended Posts

If ever a city needed a domed stadium, it would be Minneapolis.

The nimrods had a domed stadium. When they put out coin for a new, improved model they should have invested in a retractable roof. The revenue of increased attendance on days with extreme weather would have paid for it rather quickly.

Have a great time at the game CanadianHalo.

Does anyone have stats on the Angels record when they are playing in cold weather?

When they played the Yankees in the '09 playoffs they did not fare real well in the cold New York weather.

they didn't fare well against CC Sabathia that series, forget the weather.  Generally there is less offense on cold nights, so let's hope that benefits Blantana tonight.

yeah, a retractable roof should have been insisted on by MLB officials. pretty shortsighted not to do this.

Who was going to pay for it?

They wanted to build a retractable roof when building the new stadium for the Broncos here, but the estimates were that a retractable roof would have cost $1B.

They DID have a dome but the idiot fans and city pushed to get the new stadium outdoors. Thats football weather, not baseball. Although it would be hysterical to see a Twins/Rockies world series. Back and forth between cold and colder in Oct, idiots.

They still have a dome that the Vikings are also trying to get out of. The Metrodome has an annoying feature in that the roof collapses with too much snow. Plus, it was a HORRIBLE stadium for baseball.

And in 2007, there was a World Series between two cold weather clubs, the Rockies and the Red Sox. The weather was actually pretty good for that series. Game 1 (in Boston on 10/24/07) was 55 at game time (8:37 EDT). Game 2 (Boston, 8:30 EDT on 10/25/07) had a game time temperature of 48. Game 3 (Denver, 6:36 MDT on 10/27/07) had a game time temperature of 45. Game 4 (Denver, 6:30 MDT on 10/28/07) was 68 at game time.

If the series had gone 7, Denver had a high of 73 on 10/29/07, Boston had a high of 64 on October 31 and 69 on November 1. So the argument that two cold winter cities would have a frigid World Series isn't necessarily true.
